I'm building a 410 115 vented bass cab and I've used winIsd and I can't get it to use 2 types of speakers. I need to know how to tune the ports and I was also wondering if there is much difference from the eminence alpha's to beta's or gamma's. I'll also be using a horn and I don't know what a good one is

I don't like 4x10's. Never heard one I like and they have all sorts of phasing issues as you move off axis. They're also a stupid shape to have to move around; after humping boxes in and out of gigs for years, I now make stuff that's easy to move too. If you insist on going down this path, then build two 2x10, and preferably stack them vertically. Easier to move, puts some of the drivers closer to ear level, will have more consistent off axis performance and will project into the crowd better. You could also build a 1x15 and one 2x10 to see if that's enough, 'cos it usually will be. Firstly, why build the 4x10? You already have a larger driver that, if well selected and implemented, will likely go deeper and move more air. 4x10's are a holdover from when it was difficult to get good drivers that would both go low and move air. Not so much of an issue now, and to my mind, it's more sensible to build using fewer, better drivers (providing they get the job done) than speading to cost over a number of poorer performing drivers. I'm not real fond of the Eminence Alpha/Beta/Gamma drivers. The Beta's are probably best in the 10's as they have a decent Xmax and a lower Fs. I've replied to this in the last couple of days here so read that and let me know how big a room you need to fill and what your driver budget is in total and I'll make further suggestions. |

I've thought about what you've said, and a 210 with tweeter cab and a seperate 115 cab would probably be better for me. the I could use 1 at a time for smaller gigs. my budget for speakers is around 300-400 dollars. I've looked at aguilar's and they seem good. I wanted to know what you think and also how to tune each of these and if I should put a tweeter in each
