Talking OMG NSB DIY Go Cheapy's!!!

Well I did the mods on one NSB, But I used Acrylic (conformal coat) cut with toluene 30-70 respectively, two coats.
Also I put in a phase plug. I then cut a ¼” 18”x18” square as a baffle. Unhooked my Voights and hook up a un-moded NSB. I was amazed at the sound, I listen to a mixed Jazz and Eric Clapton Unplugged. After that I Changed out with the Modded and wow It’s incredible what sound you get for theses little guys, I then for a grin popped a tweet in with a 6k high pass cap and kick in my sub the sound was alive. When My wife came home I said” check this out, sit here and listen” She listen to the same cuts, Her comment, “This is crazy, All that sound form those cheap little speakers on a board?” Yup, Can’t wait to get these in the array, And I think I’m going to run them wide open with the tweets in a Highpass. WOOOHOO go cheapy’s!!!!!!

well...i just mounted a couple of untreaded nsbs on some 1/8th inch thick plexi like stuff...

there is definetly some detail that wasn't there...there are also some awful peaks in the upper range (as the response graphs so nicely point out...

they sound okay as they are breaking in...i need to find some serious bass filled music tho...

i'm determined to melt these things...

much like when i start itunes on the computers (emacs) at school and eq out everything aboce 125hz and turn it way the hell op...those little 2" speakers fry

I've thought about coating my NSB's. But doing 32 of them just seems so tedious. Since they're only playing from 90-3200hz anyways, it's probably not a big deal in my case.

I have 6 coats of lacquer on the 16 line NSB operating
from 65hz - 1700hz.

Originally it was 4 coats, operating from 65hz - 2500hz
and it felt like it needed 2 more coats.

Since then, I lowered the crossover point because I'm using
8th order active.

Mod one NSB and do listening test.

Hey 24kilo. You modded NSB looks nice. You could actually put that in a speaker without a grill.

Did you mod the basket or just the cones?
