Speaker Building

1> I told my Dad I wanted to build my own Amp, and he suggested that I build my own speaker. He says that it's possible to make a better speaker....I've heard of making your own mics from radioshack equipment, but speakers?
2>Also I'm not sure what speaker's I want to buy...I'm kind of a rocker/punk-rocker. But....I don't want my sound to be a slave of some uber-distortion speaker. I have a vintage Honeytone practice amp, and I personally hate it. Does anybody have suggestions?

baisicly it depends on your budget and the room size.

since you have no experience on speaker design, you should definetly build a ready design ( kit ) and not buy drivers and crossover of your own choice, since it needs a lot of advanced work to make them all work properly.

Hmmm...

The speakers on the link seem very high quality... but also rather pricy, with little construction detail, and not necesarily what Nemo... wants.
