That's far from unusual. Look at the Xmax vs Xmech of most pro drivers http://www.partsexpress.com/pdf/290-580.pdf

The 9mm is probably linear travel or travel whilst maintaining distortion under a certain percentage and the 30mm is the maximum coil travel.

Stange because usual notation would be Xlin 9mm and Xmax 30mm but I guess the guy doesn't know that

The variance between the two also suggests to me that the cone travel isn't very linear at all and/or the motor isn't upto much.

BTW xmax is +/-30mm for 6.5"!!! Thats nearly as good as the XXX or tumult!

Just noticed the spider is in a strange place too. My guess is you'll get less rocking with the spider closer to cone. Then again I can see how the opposite may work too since the pole section is fixed at the extreme of each end.

cant see whats going on under the bottom of the driver - is the spider suspended and the gap is to allow movement
does something but into the bottom - a pole piece maybe

they're cool
thats for sure

Never seen those either. By the looks of the cone and front mounting plate they come from the same factory.
