Default Bitten again

Ok i have to make some changes. I love what i built so far even though it is ugly as sin. Now i want to rebuild the tops but with a better high frequency transducer and another morel MW266 which is sweet beyond belief in a sealed cabinet.

As it stands now i have the big Hi-Vi RT8 ribbon/planar tweeter a single morel mid and dual 10 inch bass per side. i want to have 2 x morel - 2 x 10 and a less finecky tweeter.

What kind of suggestions do you all have. Ceramic aluminum fabric ?
I am all active so i dont need to worry about x-over anomallys, unless they have to crossver above 3k then that could be a bit of a problem.

Seems like your problem is that you are crossing that ribbon tweeter too low.
You should cross it higher, and to do that you must also choose a smaller driver for the midband, one that has good response and dispersion charateristics up to higher frequencies than the Morel MW266 you are using.

The mid is fine and runs right up past 4k before i start noticing a honk and squeeze sound. The Hi-Vi has good dispersion horizontally. I knew pinpoint imaging was not going to be achieved with something that large. So i am going to rebuild the top cabinets with 2 Morels. I want more mid bass smack . Also the hi vi does not really go past 16 k on the RTA. large drop off above there. So i am leaning towards ring radiators or mabey those externally mounted tweeters from Morel or LCY .

The Hi-Vi cross over is 1800 Hz and has been like that with a few tweaks since i got the cross over and 3 amps.

I really like the inverted ceramic dome Fplots on some of the websites that sell speakers with them.

I never heard those externally mounted Morels, but the specs are anything special.
You will not be able to cross them low, they will distort, as most domes (except the best ones) do.
And you will probably not have such a fast and clean midband/treble as the ribbon.
Here's something for you to think about: how about keeping the Hi-Vi ribbons and try the Morels on top, crossed very high as super-tweeters?
