Default My first project on ETON not good not bad

I'm beginner on DIY. This is my first project. Sorry for my English I'm from Ukraine.
Pass few days as I put Eton Eton 25 SD 1 and 7-360/37 HEX in box.
http://www.eton-gmbh.de/ShowPage.php?PId=22&LangId=0)
I wanted good bass from bookshelf speaker so I choose 7" driver. Fow now I think maybe the one is too big for good midrange?

Box made from 22MDF, exept front panel 22+12 MDF. Volume of box was calculated in Bass Box. Vented box 13L, Fb=43.5, F3=50Hz. Box is Crossover is calculated in X-over. x-over is 2500Hz, 2nd order Bessel, just because X-over wrote maximal good response with that parameters. Conponent are Mundorf. Sure I used Zobel for midbass.

For two days I was listening.
The sum is: bass really good I liked it, but I see some resonanse there is. I do not use any material inside box. Maybe I should.
Here is problem with midrange vocal is not really natural, it is not bad but not very opened and clear. It seems the same with hight range. Sound stage is not very good, I can "see" instruments, but it should be more present and natural. I see this driver can work better, but I do not now what to change in crossover or box. I would be glad to have your advise.
Unfortunately I have no experiense in measuring and crossover tweeking, evem I have no microphone for measuring. But I'm working on it.
If anybody have experience with this set of driver I would be glad to see your advice.

Text book XOs never work in the real world since no driver response is flat. Model your XO with the drivers will make your speakers sound good. You can get the speaker data sheets and the FRC software and Speaker Workshop (all being free) to model your XO.

Regards,
Bill

I realised that I need to measurement to make good crossover.
But I'm on the way to it.
I just thought if any had a deal with that drivers the one can give me some advise.
The one person told me that I should cross higher than I did over 3000 to 4000 to make midrange better. Is thet true?

No it isnt true. The Eton is hard coned and has a breakup higher. Stay with 2.5kHz. I have experience with the Etons, you have a very good driver combination. They can yeld very good performance. It is just the long and winding road of DIY you decided to take. Hit on your first bump. Welcome to the club.

You should use damping inside your box. Try carpet underpadding....

I had a resonance in my speakers, happens to be the phase, the tweeter was cut at 2500hz and and with the polarity revers on the xover (12db) made a big dip 6to 8 db's as sonn as I put it as it was suppose to it canceled partially the resonance, after I found out that xover of the woofer was overlaping my tweeter changed the components on the xover and voila!!no resonance at all, flat response 2-+db,and found LOTS of detail.
btw this was all done with pink noise and an RTA.

Also notch the nasty cone breakup of the Eton 7" (use an LCR network, consisting of a coil - capacitor - resistor)
