Default Ribbons - for interest

Having seen a number of references to out-of-the-ordinary line sources, I thought there may be some interest in a truly exotic solution. The attached image is of a full-range (20Hz to 30KHz) ribbon array, in final prototype form (not designed by myself - I am an amplifier designer). The results are not possible to describe - very addictive.

Looks like he used ceramic magnets...good way to help control costs. Can you share a link or any other details?

Unfortunately the designer does not have a website at the moment - also, the speaker is at this stage still a pre-production model. However, if you would like details of the design I can supply you with what I have (which is not complete unfortunately)

cermanics have the huge problem of being REALLY inefficent

though it might be more costly... N50 is the way to go... for thick N40

you will love the sound way more

Search the Ribbon/ESL part of this forum and there's plenty of threads that talk about DIYing a ribbon... it's simple... cheap... and good results can be had

I'm currently nearly finished with a pair of LCY 130 copies... and thus far I've only spent $70 including everything... transformers and all... actually my ribbons are improved upon the LCY in a few ways

I see... you built these... look nice
