I want someone to explain how to go about deciding where a starting point would be for inserting a single capacitor into a system. Would a zobel have to be also done to keep the woofer impedance flat even though there is no x-over for it? A rising impedance will still produce a sound effect wouldnt it ? Due to its affect on the amplifiers output from the load changing ?
Monetarily i cant due what i want right now. (multi amp active x-over ) I tried the single capacitor before but it sounded trash. Most definetly because i was just targeting what i thought were approximate mechanical roll offs for the woofers.

I've seen lots of arguments about active crossovers. Seems like you're one of the first to start complaining about it.
Only the RCL zobels are normally necessary. The RC zobels really depend on certain design conditions. Why would you want to roll off the with a cap when you have the active XO to do it? You most likely would loss the low end if you put that in series.

I know you probably didnt understand what i said so i will say it again.
I cannot afford to go active right now, and i want to try and reduce the component count in my x-over. How do i go about getting a starting point ? I dont want to sit play with 500 capacitors and go down or up 50 hz at a time from 3500 to 2200 ... there has to be a way to decide where to start .
