is there any reason you couldn't replace a plastic or aluminium face plate for a machined copper one? is the only criteria for the face plate to be non ferrous?

My d-260 tweeters from dynaudio got cast iron faceplates, so there goes the non-ferrous reason

You will probably change the response charateristics of the tweeter by doing so, but that's what R&D is all about - trying different things.
Worst case I can see is you might introduce resonant peaks in your response that you may or may not be able to tame. If you've got the tooling to do something like that I'd say go for it and let us know your results! Mark |
