Acoustic Research 1201 series???

Ok, has anyone heard of Acoustic Research? I just bought a pair of 1201 series studio monitors - at a rummage sale ($5 for pair - could not pass it up) the speakers seem to be in good condition, the case needs bit of touch up -
these speakers are stand up 3 way types. with two control knobs under the speaker screen (what IS the proper technical trem for that anayway?) with the ability to adjust the mids and tweeters from -2db to +2db. Also claim to be "liquid cooled".
What I do know about Acoustic Research is they started building speakers back in the 50's. They are now a part of Audio Vox (as is Advent and Jensen.)
But I cannot find any info about these speakers. Can anyone point me in a general direction?

OK, they are not acoustic research ( wrote it off the speaker wrong) but Acoustic REFERENCE brand.
Anyone know of this brand?

Those are "white van" speakers.

At $5 they may be worth having, but you probably won't be able to find any info about them.
