Question tweeter selection

I am still confused as to how to compare tweeters, Theres so many programs for doing subs and crossovers but tweeters often have so few parameters and not enough given to model in bass box pro ect. I would likely be buying from parts express:parts express fabric tweeter
That looks like a good one to me( case sort of reminds me of b&w) big difference between list and selling price sort of worries me... It seems like a lower fs response is better. I would like to keep tweeter crossover somewhat simple(12dB/octave?) I see some dome midranges that look like tweeters sometimes too More signifigant changes in flush mount also... I'm willing to read alot but I find so little info..

Yup the T/S param.s don't tell you a lot..

Look over John's recent test survey here (its a fantastic resource):

Dave's is nice too:

If I were you I'd take a long hard look at this design from John:

hmm site has different list price for the TN28 tweet I referred to. there paper catalog(don't see date but with the person making a mtm with aluminium dayton mids on cover) lists at $95.95 hmm good thing I noticed that. John site tested the tweet and says "Poor performer overall." good to know. Seems like all the stuff thats well out of my budget is better Excellent links though, still wading through the info.
Anything for comparing metal dome vs planar vs soft dome ect type?

It seems like it would almost be easier to do a 3way design so crossover point is not so important but it makes the speakers larger... I was looking at doing a 2 way with a 4"woofer for computer where I can only get flat to about 150Hz in 0.1cuft. seperate woofer with 2 6.5" woofers tuned to 31Hz already made.

I don't see a lot of posts here about this, but do people on this forum do much shopping on eBay for used drivers? I have had excellent luck doing this - my preferred brand is a/d/s/ - they've been building speakers since the 70s and there are always a lot of their drivers for sale.

I can't tell you anything about T/S parameters, distortion measurements, etc; what I can tell you is that virtually every driver they've ever made is excellent - clean, clear, detailed, realistic, accurate, etc. Numbers mean nothing to me - put down your microphone, turn off the computer, and LISTEN!! How do they SOUND?

I have built my entire car system (13 drivers total!!) with these and they sound like I'm sitting right in the middle of the orchestra. Their silk and poly dome tweeters are incredible and rival many more expensive units out there today. One vendor on eBay is "ads.speakers" - has lots of raw factory replacement drivers that are all brand new - pricier than the used stuff but still very reasonable. I'd check it out.

My 2 cents.
