I don't know loudspeker lab, but I think the problems you are having are due to the sound part of the laptop. For example, some laptops don't have stereo line in sockets, just mono mic. Check the sound implementation on your laptop.

One other thing to consider is DUPLEX, can your sound card on the laptop record and playback at the same time? This is often required by measurement programs, infact I would think it necessary.

5th element is exactly correct, I had to purchase a USB sound "card" for exactly this problem.

b4 purchasing, check to make sure that it is duplex capable. Additionally, duplex capable is a hardware feature so upgrading software drivers almost certainly will not make the sound card duplex capable if it isn't already.

Im using a cheap audiotrak maya ex5 usb soundcard. Its pretty linear using the line in. you have to get an external preamp though if you do not have th lsplab measurement box.

Cheers
