Default How do you read colours on resistors?

Hello Everyone!

Was wondering if someone could tell me how to read the coloured stripes found on resistors. All of the resistors I have used posted the values right on them for easy identification.

Is there a difference between these resistors and the wire wound ones I have been using on my speaker building projects?

The speakers I just took apart to see what was inside used the resistors with different coloured stripes on them. ( a little smaller I might add )

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Dave.

Things like that are always an easy Google search away:
