Angry Of all the stupid things!

Trust me, this is leading to a legitimate question. Last weekend was "large item" trash pickup in an area close to me. As I was driving home looking for the occasional "goodies" I spot this large cabinet that looked like a Klipsch K-horn sitting at the curb.

(insert sound of tires skidding to stop) Turned out to be an Audiocraft clone from the early 80s. I managed to wrestle this thing into my Volvo wagon and looked carefully expecting to see a flatted area in the grass where the other speaker was. Did not see anything. I thought mabey someone had grabbed one and was planning on coming back for the second.
The next day I rode over to the house where this was sitting and managed to catch the homeowner as she was getting ready to leave. I asked her if there was another unit and her reply about killed me. She informed me that a friend had left them at her house and never came back to get them. She had gotten very angry about this and destroyed the first cabinet with hammer and saw!
She said she had no idea what they were or what the value of them was. I cannot imagine someone not looking to see if they could be sold. I guess ignorence is bliss, right?
Since I now have only one of these (it all works) I was contemplating selling the horns and using the bass cabinet for a sub in the basement.
The question: has anybody tried putting a corner horn on it's side and using the floor and wall as a horn instead of a corner? I do not have a normal corner in my basement due to plumbing, ect. At present it makes a dandy garage speaker while working on the bikes! My son came down and complained his room was shaking. I was driving the speaker with a small boom box I keep in the garage. A little Yello to wrench by! I may just have to whip up an amp for this thing. Regards all.

You guys really make me feel bad. The only thing I ever see on the front of any one's lawn are big nasty dogs that look at me while they snarl & lick their lips and go "ummm, the other white meat".

Default Defining "large item"

Where I live, and I believe most large cities do this, once a year they have a day where you can put almost anything out at the curb to have it hauled off. It is quite the spectacle as all the "vultures" drive through neighborhoods with trucks, trailers, ect, and grab stuff. The city does not stop them as there is less for them (the city) to deal with. You will see trucks piled to overflow with bicycles, lawnmowers, furniture, computers, vcrs, and almost anything else you could imagine.
There have been major fights over items. I have a lawnmower, rototiller, snow blower, weed eater, and shredder all from the curbs. Most need only minor repair or just clean the water out of the carb to make them run. I used to find a lot of older speakers out there but the numbers are dwindled.
I take a lot of this and donate it to charitable organizations. It's my small effort to save the planet. I also like finding: 19 inch rack 6 feet tall full of gold plated circuit boards. (large network token ring hub) some nice money for scrap! The kicker: the power supplies are 1kw switchers with pfc and an output of 52 volts d.c. Give you any ideas? This rack was dated 1999. I think I need a bigger box!
