I have a pair of Seas Thor speakers, i think the tweeters are too bright/loud. Any suggestions on how to modify the crossovers? Http://www.seas.no/thor

Another thing you might try is a parallel LR circuit inserted in series with one of the lines between the amp and speaker. This will "tilt" overall system response and help preserve the relationships within what is probably a very well designed crossover.
You can determine starting values with simulation software. If you don't have software, start with a low value, low DCR, air core inductor paralleled by a low value high quality resistor. Higher values of L will start the tilt lower in frequency, higher values of R will increase treble attenuation...so you can adjust the values to get the result you want. Just insert the parallel LR combo in one of the lines running to the speaker. |

Hi,
there's a 2,2 Ohm resistor directly in series with your tweeter. For 1 db lower SPL replace it with a 3.3 Ohm and for a 2 db lower SPL replace it with a 4.7 Ohm resistor. Make sure you use at least a Metal-Oxid (MOX) resistor, definitely NOT a wire-wound. Grtz, Joris |

I think what Paul W is trying to explain is baffle step correction.
Try .1 mh inductor in parallel with a 4 ohm resistor. |

RJ...Same circuit as baffle step compensation but broader range, more subtle, and acting on the full system rather than just the woofers (to avoid munging relative phase response within Thors crossover...which is probably good without modification). I am guessing around .2 mh and 1 ohm or so...but you could be right, my values are just a guess without sims.
