I'm thinking about these designs, but there are a couple of questions.
Does the brace on the rear serve a purpose acoustically, or is it just a brace? The drawing shows some stuffing, I believe, but how dense? TIA MB

The brace holds the drivers in the baffle since they mount from the rear with no mechanical fasteners. With the weatherstripping lining the mounting rebates and the RTV between the brace and magnets there is no "hard" mounting of any kind. You could mount the drivers conventionally (from the front) if you wanted to simplify the construction a bit.
You don't really need any stuffing. Cheers, Davey. |

Thanks, I went back and saw that I needed to go to the Pheonix page for the mounting details.

Having done a few OBs and slowly learning their characteristics, I think this design would seriously lacks Bass.

There's a woofer that's designed to go with it. The PMT1 was never intended to reproduce bass.
http://www.linkwitzlab.com/proto.htm#PW1 The only person I'm aware of that has built the PMT1's is Bruce Coppola. Google his name and you'll find some photos. Dave. |

I am not afraid of lack of bass, I listen usually at very low levels and I plan a subwoofer (dipole? Or even some cheap one
I saw Bruce's speakers yesterday - and that finally forced me to dig deeper into this project. |
