Default new cd player and amp warrant new speakers :D

Ive just finished my vifa pl18 xt25 project, usinf ken perkins Nebula crossover, and am very impressed with the results, as is my dad. He's just got some money from somewhere and has bought a musical fidelity A5 cd player and amp, and intends to add an A5cr power amp to the mix too, to biamp the speakers. Trouble is now, his mission 782 loudspeakers, although being very nice to listen to, are somewhat outclassed by the electronics and my new DIY speakers so I have been asked to build my dad a pair of 3 way floorstanders (although relatively copmpact ones as the room isnt huge) with a budget of up to £1000, which is what he was considering spending on a pair of commercial speakers.
What swung him was his £700 missions are beaten hands down by my £300 diy project . . obviously im very excited although somewhat scared by having sych a large budget.
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some tried and true projects i could consider, with the following criteria:
1) parallel crossover network for biamping (or series between mid and tweet with extra bass module)
2) relatively compact design
3) ideally floorstanders otherwise ill have to give him his stands back and buy some of my own

cheers, matt.

How about something like this from Dan Wesnor

http://www.knology.net/~wesnor/sassyt.html

more then a just a bit like the missions. But a side firing woofer is a good idea if size is an issue.

Wesnor has another design

http://www.knology.net/~wesnor/pss.html

I would prefer to use the XLS from the pss, the L15RLY/P from the sassyt and something like a scan speak sd2905/95 as a tweeter.

Now there are not a huge amount of three ways around which is unfortunate.

You could build this

and add a subwoofer.

HI,
Try this link. It is in German, and will need to be translated. I think Yahoo has a built in translator.
