Default crossover position Proac 2.5 clone

I read:

AI.M:"The best way is to mount above port using long thread rear terminal connectors that punch through to the crossover, bolting everything together but with no dacron in between. Or use long screws from the woofer hole."

Just ask:

1. Is there a strong (large) vibration if I just use hot gule to stable to crossover above port?

2. Can I just use screw to bolting(punch through) the crossover board onto the back MDF from internal? That's easy, but is it not good?

Thanks for input!

Hi Kevin,

1) No. vibration is no problem. Usually the board is screwed to the backpanel of the speaker, though. This way it is possible to keep some distance between the speaker cabinet walls and the crossover. Also, it is easier to remove if you ever need to work on it.

2) I see no reason why not. I don't know if it's better: I don't think a short cable between the terminals and the crossover will deteriorate the sound. If it is easy to do, and you like the idea, just do it.

About the ternimal jack, I am going to use WBTs, but the base of the jack is only very little longer(thicker) than my 3/4" MDF, how people mount the jack into such MDF?

It's my first DIY speaker, so lots of the detail I don't know, thanks for you share!
