As close as possible, touching if you can do it. You can't get them too close.

Alright great. Thanks for the reply dhenryp. I have them a half inch apart. I have just the front piece of wood done, so I played them and they sounded pretty darn good. So once i put them in a box it should sound even better. I am also gonna put some of the poly fill stuff in there. That will make it even better right?

Nope, except the bass will fill out more. They'll sound like they're in a box.
