Default STOLEN in Toronto - pair of Focal Utopia 33WX and ATLR

OMG! I'm really ****ed off right now!!! I'm going to try and keep my composure.

After all these years of R&D and trying to build my JM Lab Utopia clone, my house got broken into a few days ago and the robbers decided it was a good idea to take my pair of Focal Utopia 33WX and ATLR and amongst other things.

It's over man. These speakers are irreplacable. I doubt I will ever be able to recoup full cost by insurance (I lost my receipt). The Focal nuts out there know how much $$$ these babies are worth, even used! They even stole the nice wooden boxes I had for the ATLRs.

Thanks for reading and by any chance someone sees a pair of Focal Utopia 33WX (car) for sale with no LOGO on the dust cap, please get in touch with me... BTW, the 13WX (home) does not have a logo, just the car which makes the 33WXs I had very unique. As well, used ATLRs are hard to come by in the used market.

James

You might want to contact whoever you bought the drivers from and see if they can print off another receipt if they still have it on record.

NEVER TELL ANY OF THE PAWN SHOPS. EVER.

The reason being, this will merely tell them all what NOT to buy.

And they are NOT going to tell the police if they see one..
The only way it will ever be recovered via a pawn shop, is if the police recover it from a pawn shop for you.

How do I know this?

I was the buyer at a pawn shop for three years.

Another angle:

I spoke to a manager of a Cash Converter's, here in Kingston, Ontario when they had one here. I saw an entire Onkyo Pre-power CD-cassette combination, top of the line. I KNEW, flat out, that it was stolen. I even knew the owner of it.

I warned the shop manager. He said that they just move the stuff to London, Ontario,as this was OUTSIDE of the OPP "Hot Sheet" (Ontario Provincial Police, to you US folk) area for Kingston, and it would never even show up as being stolen.

The things you see.......

EBAY is the most likely place they will show up.

Oh yeah,.. a definite. The thief ships it to his buddy in BC or something.

He sells it on EBAY, into the US. No serial numbers are ever registered for inter-provincial, or international theft of such things. This goes for the states too (no inter-state serial number hot sheets are shared). Serial numbers for stolen goods are only shared locally.

This means that thieves can sell stolen good out of the country with NO worries.

The North American Police (All US and Canadian police forces)are about 5 years behind the curve.

And they show NO sign of correcting this, or..giving them the benefit of the doubt, FINDING a way of fixing this issue.

The reality is that I don't wan them to fix it, it isn't broken. When they finally do, thouigh, there won't be anything left of ERbay. If you hear a hint of this in the news at all, or in the air.... SELL your Ebay stock IMMEDIATLEY!

All I know, is proper handling of thse issues would KILL Ebay, flat. Completely crush it, if a registry of some sort existed. Taxation would be the rule, and every one would go back to barter.

Dont make it too scary for the thieves, they are going to throw the damn thing into the river if they cant dispose the goods safely.
What you can do is to get some buddies to pawn shops and start to enquire for used speakers. Once you have spotted what is yours, get the police in. But beforehand, make a police report ASAP.
Check ebay and as many other places you can think of. hope that damn thief is not an audiophile..

That is correct. That is what we told customers. We would never have been re-compensated for the stolen goods. The store would have lost the money, so the seller is turned away, if they have goods recognized as stolen. The best bet ius to start scouting the shops...and make sure the police know.

Being a responsible group of empolyees who hated thieves as much as anyone, we told customers to look in our shop for their stuff, and told them, before they began speaking.. "don't tell us what it is, tell the police" and we explained why.

Look for EBAY auctions in a few months from other places outside of the Toronto area, for Focal drivers, etc.
