Default cruising for a midrange (to use with dual extremis)

Anyone got the goods on the latest crop of decent midrange drivers? Not too cheap..not too classy. Just plain good. Dome, cone, etc. No real preference.

I'd be very interested in hearing your opinions.

Thanks!

in case anyone is wondering about the power handling of the extremis drivers (from adire) I had one sitting free air the the other day, and wanted to show someone how 'indestructible' they are. I used the album "Leftism" , by Leftfield. The track #8, on the CD, called "Inspection, Check One" has absolutely Ridiculous bass. I ran the Extremis with this tune,as I said..free air! and with a counterpoint SA-220, which was probably putting about 240w cont, and 350-400 peak watts into it. In free air.

The driver won. The amp shut down first.

The Extremis is not suitable for use with a midrange. It's much better for an MTM setup.

What a dumb website Adire has. You click on a graphic for an enlargement and get a file not found error. The same guy who checks to see if their spiders are properly glued is probably in charge of the website.

Why do you hate so much these guys?

I have a Shiva in a 5 cu.ft box, the spider is perfect and the amplifier is shutting down before the subwoofer reach full excursion.

I don't hate them. There is simply no excuse for letting an item with an unattached spider be shipped. There is no excuse for a imperfectly functioning website either. I don't think "oops" cuts the mustard.

I've noticed that good sub mfg's need better webmasters. Image Dynamics website is unchanged going on like 3 years now.

It's going to be an MTM with a midrange. A three way center, with over'n under Tweet/mid 'twixt the woofers.

And Bill, concerning Adire and the detached spyder:

GO AWAY.

Back to the subject at hand. I don't like high slope crossovers*, and for a MTM on it's side..as a center..well.... may as well go three way!

*My personal opinion, after having made dozens of attempts (meaning working ones) at high slope (18 db or higher, every style and type known to mankind) crossovers: THEY SUCK!!!!!!!
