Question active crossovers, please help

I love building speakers, but have been limited to passive crossovers. I want to use active on my next pair. I use a Harmon Kardon receiver, with standard speaker outputs. How can I incorporate an active crossover into my two front speakers? The connectors are something I don't have experience with. 1/4", XLR, etc. Please help. i understand the concepts, I just need advice on the hardware and making it work. Thanks.

Hi,you need an amplifier for each drive unit in your speakers. A stereo pair of 2way will require four amplifiers. A 3way will need six amplifiers.

In addition to what Andrew said about two amps, you also need preamp outputs and power amp inputs. Does your receiver have these?
