Connect cable to driver, don’t sizzle voice coil?

A friend suggested that when wiring up a speaker, if you solder (350 degrees

) cable directly onto the blade connectors on the back of a driver, in the 20-30 secs while doing so, the heat that transfers up the driver’s ‘internal wire’ and onto the voice coil, is not at all good for the VC.

Opinions, experience?

Apply solder to the blades and the cable separately. Plenty on the cable. The wires should be fully soaked with tin.
Then, when the cable is still hot, solder it onto the blade. It shouldn’t take more then 5 seconds. This will dramatically reduce the heat transferred to the voice coil.

Firstly, if it takes you 20-30 seconds to solder a wire to a terminal, I suggest you find a different hobby or get in a lot of practice first !

Secondly, take a close look at how the braid is connected to the blade. It is soldered !
The problem is not heat travelling to the voice coil (it won't really do this, and besides the coil can withstand much higher temperatures than the braids). The problem is that if you take too long you will melt the solder junction of the braid to the blade.
So practice till you can make a good connection in 5 seconds or so then go for it as netlist suggested.
I have made hundreds of such connections and never had a problem.
