Default sonus faber cremona xt25 speculation

Hi All

Can anybody put and end to the speculation that the sonus faber Cremona series of speak use the Vifa XT25 as a tweet and not the Scan speak version of the ring radiator,

Definitive proof would probably be a photo of the tweet being removed from the cabinet or something like that,

The XT25 and the scanspeak version have very different back assemblies
Thanks

Perhaps I'm missing something, but here's the Vifa:

Here's the Cremona, with the only apparent differences being the number of mounting holes and the color of the phase plug:

The Scan-Speak looks quite different:

Is there another Scan-Speak ring radiator tweeter?

You are correct in the apparent appearance differences..

many discussions points I've come across state that its a version of the scan unit, though for the price they charge (for the cremona auditor in particular) i don't see how they could afford to use the scan unit...

Cheers from downunder

Sonus Faber usually uses customized versions of catalogue parts, so I would guess it's a heavily customized version of the XT25. If you remove it, you may find a Sonus Faber label on it...

If you ever get the chance, try the scan ring. Easily the best tweeter I've heard and that's in the company of good existing designs such as the Raven R1, AC G1 and the XT.

I'd describe the sound as extremely detailed but without any harshness, its kind of a paradox but think electrostatic and your on the right track.

Kingdaddy machined some custom faceplates for the XT's so he's had them to bits.

Careful with the paint mod though, 2nd order non linear distortion could rise by a considerable margin

Don't worry, I will sprinkle Fairy dust on the pole piece to get some extra sparkle.

Cannot fault that plan, its a well known 'trick' that all the boutique manufacturers use. Just make sure you so say in the sales brochure!
