Default Vifa subwoofer

I recently built a couple set of loudspeaker enclosures....
set 1: Vifa xg18 and Vifa DX25TG tweeter
Set 2: Vifa P17WJ and Vifa DX25TG tweeter

The loudspeaker souns great and Im pleased with all the help you guys have provided.

One question though...I am lacking low end bass, and am looking to fill the gap....I want to keep the driver a Vifa.....Does anyone of a Vifa driver that will perform well in the low end bass section...Im going to build a seperate enclosure for it....I also do not want to go bigger than a 8 inch or 10 inch woofer....any ideas???

for the 10" size I'd recommend (I have a couple) the M26WR-09-08 (provided you are happy putting it in a vented enclosure.

Tony.

I'f you've got to keep it Vifa, here's something new at Madisound: the Vifa MA26WR-09-04. It has a metal cone, cast frame and incredibly deep bass in a 1.5 cu ft enclosure. Xmax is decent, at least by Vifa woofer standards. Low efficiency is the tradeoff for the bass depth. Nobody is going to have much to say about these since they are a new addition to the Vifa line. They look interesting though.

Those look like the woofer in the Totem Acoustics "Thunder" subwoofers.

I've been intrigued by these too. Zaph, I remember you posted something once saying you were looking at trying these out. Take it you've been distracted by small mid-bass and 3" full range lately... or have you given them a go?

BTW, Zaph, I owe you big time. my wife told me that I needed to build cute little "cube" speakers for our new house, you know, like the B*$E... I showed her pics of your L15's and she conceded that they might be OK

A 10" aluminum cone that breaks up higher than 2.5kHz?

I just checked out the Totem site. It does indeed look like that woofer, although they use it in a bass reflex. Given the highish Qts, the ones Madisound sells are definitely better suited to sealed. And they will have deeper bass than the average 15" in a 3 cu ft enclosure.

Well, I got a 15" Ascendant Altas sub for free, and I'm working towards setting that up instead. Still, this thing needs a 4 cu ft box and I may choose to do something smaller, so I haven't ruled out giving these Vifas a try.

I just finished up a small design using the HiVi B3S. It sounds incredible. It blows away the Blose. (not hard to do that I supoose) I hooked up an 8" sub and watched Matrix Reloaded tonight, and then listened to music for 2 hours after that. I don't know if it's the couple drinks I had, but these sound like a winner. Just have to find some time to write up the web page.

Apparently, but most 10" metal woofers have a breakup between 3 and 4khz. From the chart, this one doesn't have much breakup though. Who wants to try a 2 way with it?
