Almost 50 views and still no problems reported.
I say: if you like them and you think you can use them, buy them.
Or try one and listen.

First of all, there are probably better things out there.

Second, there are definitely much better price/performance tweeters out there that are still in the extreme high end.

Hi,

Many people have different opinions..
It's also about how you filter it etc etc.
Some say it sounds like an electrostat.. other say different.
A tweeter no matter what price?
Accuton maybe.. only 2699,- euro per piece

Define "best" and you will have a better idea if the Scan qualifies for your purposes.

- high efficiency?
- high SPL?
- lowest distortion at low frequecies?
- lowest distortion at high frequencies?
- flattest frequency response on axis at (specify the frequency range)?
- flattest response off axis at (specify angle and frequency range)?
- best power response of the tweeter?
- best power response of the combined tweeter and midrange?
- etc, etc, etc.

No one tweeter is the "best" for every application. They all, including the Scan, have strengths and weaknesses.

For home cinema I would believe the Stage Accompany ribbon would be the best at any price.

The ring radiators has this strange sound. It reminds me of a Heil-tweeter. It sounds like something in the lower tweeter-range is absent. It also has a significantly narrower dispersion than many usual domes. That will pobably cause some problems in a cinema. At least if you plan to have more than one person as audience.

Ringradiator bad dispersion and you recommend a big planar instead?

I had the same thought. But, ringradiator dispersion would be limited (to whatever extent it is -- I'm not familiar) in all axes, whereas ribbons have wide horizontal dispersion. Limited vertical dispersion is generally a benefit in HT.
