I have a two way system and am in the process of replacing the woofer drivers in the cabinet. The woofers are 6 ohm and so is the crossover. Is there any danger in using 8 ohm replacements with the same crossover? Is there another reason I should use a different crossover?

crossover is designed with a certain impedance in mind, to give a certain cutoff frequency. Changing to a different impedance woofer will alter the cuttoff frequency.. If you change the woofer, you have to consider modifying the crossover.
Theoretically, the enclosure is designed to suit the particular woofer based on its T/S parameters, so its not ideal to change to a different woofer. |
