I would like to experiment/builld partexpress's Vince's HT towers with the dayton aluminums. The project fits the bill quite nicely and looks great. It will be used mainly as front towers for a budget HT setup.
I have a few questions on the design. 1) Why aren't the towers ported? the 7" aluminum can't handle the lowend below the ported frequencies? I believe that my receiver can HP the front channels. 2) I have a pair of heil ribbons, I'd like to swap those with the current vifa tweeters, is there any drawbacks? Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks guys btw: Here's the link to the posted project http://www.partsexpress.com/projects...re_design.html |

No, they can't, but I imagine it's because he wanted a sealed cab's superior transient response. Anyway, if vented, I recommend you use all the space and vent it out the top.
Not familiar with this ribbon, but I'd be suprised if you didn't have to redesign the XO and possibly use a different midbass spacing. GM
