Please don't duplicate post. One thread is enough.

Why not buy from Adire direct? I live in Thailand, and they shipped here no problem...

Because it costs a fortune, takes months to reach you, and might turn up broken.

This describes my experience when purchasing a Tempest, but Adire were excellent in replacing the faulty driver. They probably even made a loss on my sale.

They really could do with a good UK distributer. The Tempest is a very impressive driver, and for those in the US, it offers amazing value.

What driver(s) are you looking to buy?

edit: when I say costs a fortune, I refer to shipping cost and import tax - 30 quid I wasn't expecting, iirc

Have you actually contacted the UK dealer? 3d something or other IIRC. I'm pretty sure they are still selling them, despite what impression you may get from the website or recent posts here.

Unhappy BooHoo...

Just had it confirmed Adire UK dealer(Design3DW3) is now a former dealer. They have swapped to Acoustic Energy. D'OH!

Come Adire sort yourselves out and appoint a UK distributor or I'll be spending my cash somewhere else, and I really wanted to spend it with you!

Why don't you just email Adire, tell them what you want to buy, and they will send you the shipping price. It may be cheaper than buying from a dealer, as you don't have to pay the dealer's overhead. No matter how you buy, you need to pay the VAT and import duties, whether you buy from a dealer or direct (the dealer will just bump up their price to cover it, that is all). I had 7 Extremis shipped to Thailand, all arrived in great shape (excellent packaging) without problem. My only difficulty was that the duty agent here didn't really know what they were, so didn't know what duty to apply - hardly Adire's fault. Shipping was expensive, about $150 if I recall, but that is a bargain compared to what Audio Technology was quoting for (> $200) for 4 of their units. Such is life with international shipping. I am just glad that they do ship overseas, as many don't.

Hmmmm.......to get 2 Shivas brought and shipped including all taxes works out to about $400-550! depending on shipping speed (5 days to 6 weeks). Unfortunately Adire are out of stock of everything(almost), so I wouldn't be dealing with Adire direct but some dealer who may or may not be quite so helpful in replacing drivers if something goes wrong.

As a side note, whilst checking out Adires online store it seems nothing has changed since I looked last October or November(ie: they're still out of stock). This seems like a long time to go without restocking. I'll also pass on the email I got form their former UK dealer.....

"Adire stopped supplying dealers Nov 04. We sold all our existing stock (unlike some dealers?). We are still listed on their site, and have not had email answered for some time. So we decided to find a better partner - AE, who can also supply Lambda Acoustics. We were doing ok with Adire, but they had this change in policy - c'est la vie."

jc@design3dw3.co.uk

Come Adire sort yourselves out and get restocked or is there some other problem?
