OK I will.

Right now I've decided that those peerless drivers were way too expensive for me, so I'm going to go with the HI-VI 4" B4N - http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&PartNumber=297-429&DID=7

and a vifa tweeter so the only crossover I need is that 5uf capacitor.

I know its not as good as the first choice I was considering, but I just don't have the money for the others. I like how those HI-VI woofers look too :)

If you're saying that you don't need any crossover components on the HI-VI, that is not right. It's got an awful freq. resp. because of the metal cone. If you just use a cap on the tweeter, it's going to sound awful.

Look at the sample response graph on PE's page for that driver and you'll see the problem.

So I shouldn't get that one you're saying? I just noticed the frequency response is 50-3000hz, and the tweeter can't come in until 3500, so I guess you're right, it would sound pretty lousy.

Just looking again, and found this: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=290-302

It's definately affordable and looks like a well made speaker. Power handling is good, and frequency response looks good too.

Thanks

That looks like a pretty good deal. Either way, here is the graph for the goldwood woofer. It's for the 4 ohm version, I would be getting the 8 ohm version. I would assume it would be a lot alike, but I have no clue how to read those graphs and what they mean.

I know the dayton woofers are only 5 bucks or so more, but to me these look like a better speaker. The cone looks better (compared to treated paper), and the power handling is much better. I'm not asking this to save 10 bucks, I'm asking because these appear to be a better speaker. If the daytons will sound better, then I will get those.

And here is the response curve for the GW-S525/8, the 8 ohm version.

I would really appreciate it if somebody could give their input on this speaker.
