Wonderful speakers! The TL looks like it has a digestive system...
I made a pair of 16" diameter spheres with layers of 3/4" MDF (for a coaxial Seas P17REX COAX/F) using this method, but I took advantage of the opportunity to leave lots of diffracting/reflecting edges on the inside, similar to Seventh Veil. And my front baffle intersected perfectly tangential to the driver. Seems a shame not to curve the baffle while you're at it to fully exploit this technique. But I guess I have to say something critical about everything... |

Pics? You talkin' to me?!
Joules, with a jigsaw or router, you could create your own mountains of sawdust. Cost? Why is it always about cost? How much TIME is the real question.... |

Building stuff is fun, but it's just a box. I don't want to spend a huge amout of time or money just to build a box. I thought about hand cuting pieces as suggested, but only if there are no better alternatves. If the pieces could be laser cut for a reasnoble price, that might be the way to go. I contacted one laser cuting company and sent them a drawing of the pieces for a simple box 24 x 9 x 17 inches. and they wanted $500 to cut out the 26 pieces. This is to much for a simple box. This was not a complicated box I just wanted to get a feel for how much the process costs. Anything more complicated would have cost even more. I can build a very nice box using more normal processes for alot less $ and time. If there is a company that can do laser cuting as showen in the previously posted pic's for a more reasnoble price, I would be interested.

Joules, you could also enquire about local workshops with a CNC router. If it is still too expensive, a jig for a router that would cut out the pieces identically.
You could build it to use the template rings that are often supplied with routers (and can be brought aftermarket) and have a preset sized bit of square mdf slided underneath. |
