Default Fried is back

Anyone that is an avid speaker builder like myself should check out the reply on Audio Asylum by Fried Co. customer relations. look up [An Open Letter to Rdc and other DIYers:].
The new people think that factory built cabinets are always superior to the DIY cabinets. That might be true in some cases. Having auditioned many Fried speakers over the years at a store in Chestnut Hill PA. called Community Audio all of the Fried Speakers i saw used 3/4 inch thick particle board. I have been a loyal Fried customer since 1979 when i purchased my first model C satellite kit Fried called for a minumin of 3/4 inch thick particle board for his model O series of subwoofer which I thought was far to thin and used 1 inch mdf in constucting my subwoofers as well as 1 inch thick mdf for the front and back of my various model C satellites. Using one inch for the sides of the C3L cabinets would hurt the imaging and off axis response of the tweeters by widening the cabinets. All my cabinets are level and square and built using a sear table saw.
Bud Fried is a true genius and was far ahead of his competitors. Many companies now use pyramid shaped enclosures for the midrange and tweeter and series crossovers. A series crossover is just wired differently using the same values as a parallel crossover . This is cited in David Weems books as well as many other books and numerous other publications predating the Fried and IMF companies
I wonder if the new Fried co. is taking legal action against them for copying his ideas? There is legal precedent on people copying patented inventions for their own personal use which has always favored the defendant in these cases.
I hope Shaynet Tenace the former owner of Fried after the last ressurection of Fried Co. since Andy Orr closed shop in 1998 carries on the kit tradition which has died off in the good old USA. Dynaco left the kit market and nobody has replaced them either.

I worked at a Fried dealer in the late 70s. I had my customers building pyramidal shaped enclosures for their Model H satelittes years before Bud started using them. He was privy to these designs, I don't know if his concept of pyramidal enclosures were in parallel to mine, or whether he borrowed and expanded on the idea.

This is a set of boxes built from pieces of a run of H satelites that i found laying around some 20 yrs after they were cut (and long after i had a source for B110s).
