Default looking to build some computer speakers

hi all , i am new to this fourm. i am looking for some plans to build some speakers for use with my computer. i have not found speakers that i can buy that sound particularly good on the upper end. i want something that includes a tweeter or perhaps a full range that will extend to 16000-18000 range.maybe that is wishfull thinking i am not sure i can even hear those tones anymore.(many years of booming car stereo) thanks for any help. i can build it and i can follow crossover design . i just dont know how to design it myself

I just took a pair of Radio Shack Minimus 7s, and improved them by sticking a pile of damping material on the bass-mid driver and the insides of the cabinet. Just damping the speaker made a big difference.

It's a great beginner's exercise - my next step will be to try to improve the rudimentary crossover. Eventually I hope to measure the drivers and design a new crossover and possibly a new enclosure.

My point is that modifying something cheap is a good way to learn - you start with something that sort of works, and you can educate your ears as you make changes and test them out.

tim.

Do a search for W3-871S. You'll find many projects using that driver.

I second those Tang Band's and you may also want to look at this if you don't have a amplified source.
