Default i was reading about a speaker that had the crossover

set at 15ohms. it was the "LS3/5a " it seems it was made in england for the BBC.
i never heard of a speaker having that high an ohm level before. could anyone give me the quick info on the why/what for and could i run them speakers on my new pioneer reciever? or is it a "tube" amp thing??

thanx ,

roy

Two things; first, this is the fullrange forum and the Ls 3/5's aren't. Second, the BBC licensed the design and several companies actually produced them over the years and were evidently produced as an 8 Ohm later on. They are a "Classic" design and sound pretty good, but they don't play loud or low, although a pair of subwoofers can correct some of that.
The question about SS amps and these speakers seems to be your main concern, and yes, they'll work just fine. In fact, some think that SS amps actually sound better driving a higher load, a lot of misinformation floats around about this, semingly from people that cut their teeth on car audio instead of the other way around.
Best Regards,
TerryO
