I got a few drivers (cheap!) from a friend, and am starting a new project with them (2x Morel MDT30s, 4x Peerless HDS 850467. I'm thinking I'd try a set of MTM towers) I currently have them breaking in in my home office, and will set up to measure params in a few days. My question is this:
The largest room I have available is the garage (and the only place my SO will let me set up stands, run wiring, and throw acoustic foam around). However, its pretty cold in there. What kind of effect will the temperature have on my measurements? My only other option is our small office (9'x9', 8' ceiling). The garage is curently about 40-50 deg F. Will this severely impact my measurements? Which is the better option, a small, reflective room or a large, cold one? I'd rather not drop the cash on a space heater for the garage (a large one would be required), but I suppose that's an option, too. Any advice appreciated. Matt |

If you are simply going to run impedance sweeps, then by all means stay warm. Somewhat lower frequency response plots will be attainable in the garage, but not much as you are still limited by the first reflection time.
Measure them today! temps are to be in the 60's. C |
