Tomorrow I'm going to be recieving my wr125s, this is my first speaker project. I'm starting out using it as a full range and later I will add a tweeter i needed. My delema is my room. My room has a responce dips at 40hz and a small one at 100hz. Adire tuned the WR125 to 50hz, and I think I saw someone else recomend 45hz or so and morbo tuned his to about 48hz.
Shoud I tune to enclosure to 40hz? or go higher? I'm building a "test enclosure" using scrap wood, mostly .5" don't have .75" laying around. thanks, Josh |

anyone? I'm really looking forward to building it, but i'm afraid I might tune too low. In WinISD the responce graphs looked better if tuning to 43hz than 40hz, but from 41hz to 45hz my room responce is good.
Thanks, Josh |

In all the sims I've run I seem to get better results tuning to 50 - 55Hz. I've heard the 7 liter and 11 liter enclosures and they sound wonderful.

50hz it is, thanks
one thing, I wanted a tower and so I was planning on about 28 litres. Should I change the tuning frequency since my box is going to be so big? and by the way, I got the Ryobi BT3100 and the porter cable router with the 2 bases, thanks a lot for those recomendations. Thanks, Josh |

Has anyone treated a CSS WR125S like a Jordan? I think 28 liter is going to be too large for a single driver. I'm using 2 WR125ST in a 25 liter cab and they're doing well so far. My Ryobi and PC router still serve me well. Glad you like them too. For Christmas I got a Rigid orbital sander and jigsaw. They are very nice and slightly less expensive than their Bosch counterparts if anyone is interested. |

over the holiday break I've been working a lot and I was thinking of either the rigid or port cable orbtal with variable speed

Its now midnight and I just finished my first cabinet (didn't get building until very late) Its tuned to about 50hz.
For my first diy speaker I would say I did pretty well, I'm very satisifed. The piano sounds really great, as does a little electric guitar. Vocals are very good. I'm just a few minutes into listening, and only one speaker is in a box the other is sitting on top of some clothes. The bass is surprisingly good, but isn't as predominant as I hoped (I like lots of bass) but it gets pretty low, with this first cd, there are very few songs that seem jumbled or cloudy. The speakers are amazingly clear. On the other side of the house I can easy understand all words of the song even at low volumes, my B&W 602s are clear but DEFINATELY not as clear as these speakers, the vocals are soo defined! Thanks, Josh |

Glad you like the way your spaker is sounding, and congrats on building your first speaker! Good choice for a 1st project I might add, fullrange or subwoofer are the 2 best beginner projects IMO. What application are you going to use these in?
I should point out that I designed for a tuning in the 48hz range, but never measured that yet. After allowing for driver parameter variances, box volume taken up by damping/lining materials, etc., I don't know what the final tuning is, I suspect somewhat higher. I have the Apex mic and a Behringer tube preamp now, so I'll try to measure it just as soon as I can figure out how you use JustMLS |
