Could the VIFA P17WJ-00 driver be placed in a sealed box and have tight bass. If not, could the driver, in a .25 cubic foot box with a 1" diameter port tuned to 50hz, sound terriable? What are the advantages with different port diameters. Would a 1" dia port create more port noise then a 2"? Thanks for you help in advance.
Weddie P.S. Does anyone have any good designs for a small box with the VIFA P17WJ-00 and is a 3000hz x-over too high? |

It would have tighter bass in a sealed box than a vented box. However, .25 cubic feet is a bit too small for either case.
There are hundreds of DIY designs using this driver available. Google and you will find. Here's one: http://www.audiodiycentral.com/sd200_johnk.shtml Davey. |

The P17 in closed box will be almost bassfree. IŽll take reflex bass over no bass any day.10-15 lit. reflexloaded is the deal with that driver IMO.
And yes, a 1" port will be more noisy than a 2"port. Use as fat port as possible within the capability of the box volume (the wider the port the longer for a fixed tuning). /Peter |
