Budget array project

I bought 20 of these cheapie Pioneer 4-inchers to see if I can't make a semi-decent array. They might be car speakers, from the looks of the mounting flange, which is going to complicate mounting. I'm cutting them at around 4k. For tweets I bought two TB W3-871s to put in the center and run full range. It will be my first array project and I didn't want to spend much in case it's a massive failure.

It shouldn't be a failure unless you give up before you're satisfied.

Use "NSB's" in your search and you'll find lots of info here and elsewhere.

It would be nice to work out a decent mounting arrangement where the drivers are held in place by a slot in the side panels, and save ourselves the trouble of all those holes. It's a pretty odd (or tight) fit.

Be sure to listen OB as you experiment. The 871's are an interesting angle, I'll be interested in hearing how it works out.

You should see if they have any closeout Onkyo tweeters left. Lines work much better if the midbass and tweeters are both line sources rather than one line and one point.

Which Onkyo tweeters would those be? The 3/4" oval shape or the 3/8" round?
