Hello all,
Just thought I would share my happiness on finishing (well, almost) my low-end cabinets. The top cabinets are Klare Petit Noirs (Klare is a hifishop in The Netherlands, and yes I didn't make them black), with Morel drive units (not sure about the woofers, the tweeters are MDT32). The lower cabinets are bass reflex enclosures with 1 Scanspeak 21W/8555-00 each crossed over at about 100Hz. The enclosures have a net volume of about 46litres and are tuned to 26Hz. I will try the speakers with the ports closed in a couple of weeks. The sound is great, superb low-end definition. When you look at the amount of frequence spectrum they cover it's just a small portion. But those few octaves really do matter. I will need to decouple them from the floor (can you say "work in progress"?). Even with sufficient decoupling from the floor however, I think that "they will significantly alter the relationship with our neighbours". Regards, Jarno.
