Default Going active with Snell Type E3s

I have a pair of Snell Type E mark IIIs driven by a 13W SET integrated, the EAR 859.
I'm rather tempted to get another 859 off of eBay and bi-amp, but then thought: why not go active?
I understand that Snell match their drivers and crossovers, so the crossover is integral to the overall sound - therefore I need to be careful to make sure the active crossover matches the passive, presumably? Should I just replicate the passive crossover freq, Q and roll-off or is it more complicated?
Or is this just a really stupid idea since I have no in-depth (since university Physics) knowledge of electronics?!?!

Any comments based on experience welcome. Anyone like to compare the likely sonic performance of active vs biamp?

Cheers - Ads
