Its hard to tell from that shot, but it does look a bit burn near the bottom(relative to the picture, top actual) of the coil. Can you take a shot from the side, that would give a better view

Well, I couldn't get a better combination of lighting and angle. At any rate, the voice coil at that point are all black, and it has shrunk in diameter significantly.

I measured the DC spike when things are turned on properly. Holy moly! A full volt of DC for a full second! Imagine how much if the preamp had been on before the amp!

If the coil is black, its fried. Normal voice coils are typically a reddish coppery color.
