Default Lusting After the Orion's...

So for a while now I've been wanting to build Linwitz's Orion for my music reference system. Or I should say my future music reference system, since I don't have the money or space to own them at the moment.

I have grand visions of these being the last loudspeakers I'll ever need (not have, mind you). I've never even heard dipole speakers, but the descriptions of the Orion's sound so wonderful.

What is everyone else's "ultimate" speaker or that one you've been dying to build/design?

jjdche,

why not start with a boxed kit (seas trym) which uses the same midbass and tweeter, and when you can afford it, go on from there?

This advice has nothing to do with the fact that I can offer you a pair of Seas excel W22 for a good price..

Well, i already have my DIII's, so I really don't need anything else right now. I'm just pining for the day when I do have the space and income to need something else.

Haven't heard of the Seas Trym, where do you get such a thing?

Seas trym is a two way refelx loaded speaker designed by/for Seas and it use the very same drivers a SL use in Orion.

I plan on building a matching center channel but am completely satisfied with my Orions (pick what you look for most in a speaker - a natural sound, good driver integration, high quality bass, a three dimensional sound stage, detail in the musical texture without forwardness, etc. and they do it as long as it's not output levels beyond 105dB or home-theater leve level first octave bassl) and doubt a upgrade is possible.

Thats exactly what i wanted to hear.

For the lowest octave have you considered a LT'ed sub? or an infinite baffle sub?
