Default Speaker Dilemma

Hello chaps. This is my first post.

This is my amplifier: http://www.sony.co.uk/ShowProduct.do...oduct=TA-FE370

I need some help buying some speakers. I have two choices.

1. Buy a pair of bookshelf speakers and a plate amp for the sub (which I already have)
Speaker: http://www.hiwayhifi.com/site/produ...b=92&prod=21861
Plate Amp: http://custom1.farnell.com/cpc/prod...%5Fid=LS0156266

or

2. Just buy a pair of floorstanding speakers
Speaker: http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xFS?KW=Ta...sion+3&FN=&FD=0

Which would you do and why?

Cheers

First of all, your last 3 links don't work.

About the choice, I would suggest to listen to the different combinations.

Have you considered a DIY project?

I dont know how to edit the posts, so I will repeat it.

Hopefully they should work now.

I havent had a chance to listen to different combination yet, as my local shops dont do "budget kit". Im after opinions really.

Would the amp plate work with my 2 channel amp as Im not so sure.

The bookshelf/sub combo is good for home theater or accomodating a lack of space, however, for 2 channel music a single pair of loudspeakers that can cover the required frequency range (depending on what you listen to) will perform better IMHO. Another option is bookshelf speakers on top of stereo subs. Of course this is all dependent on the usual factors;
1. Budget
2. Sound quality you prefer
3. Room integration

Its not for home theatre use (assuming you mean TV, DVD etc) just to listen to music to. I dont think my amp will work with my DVD unless I am otherwise told. I dont want to buy another sub. The sub I have is a car audio one and is doing nothing at the moment which is why I want to include it in my system.

I like "sofer" "warmer" sound and listen to a wide range of music including RnB, Hip Hip, Rap, Trance, Techno, DnB, Hardcore etc. Budget is £200 max. What do you mean by room integration? The room the hifi is in has painted walls and wooden floors. The only furniture are the leather sofas.

What would you suggest out of the two?

The music genres you listed tend to have a lot of dubbing and synth bass so of the two options you listed I would suggest the bookshelf and sub combination.
"Room integration" can mean many things. I was mostly suggesting size and how you may position the speakers. Bass managment and controlling reflections is also room integration. If you have bare walls and wood floors you may want to consider adding some fabric such as rugs and wall hangings (tapestries, if you will). Leather furniture is a very good room treatment for audio. However, room acoustics is a whole other subject and probably not related to this thread.
