Default Anyone know anything about this diy design

http://home.hetnet.nl/~geenius/Auriga.html

I was looking on the internet and other forums lookign for good diy designs for some floorstanding loudspeakers, and im came across these. I like the design alot, and i think it would appeal very much to what i like in a loudspeaker (tight, not necesarilyy deep bass, rich mids, clear highs, with the ability to pick out each instrument)

the pricetag however on these speakers, along with not ever having heard of them on any other forums or sites, leaves me a bit weary to spend the money on these speakers

i was wondering if anyone has heard, or heard of these speakers, and if so could they please give me some commentary

also if anyone has any other suggestions as to similiarly priced floorstanders that might perform liek these or better please tell me.

thanks

Just a comment, you may want to note that the cabinet designed by Tony would be a pretty difficult build compared to most speakers because of the angled baffle. You could certainly build this design with and use a standard flat baffle instead of an angled one, but it would no longer be time-aligned and probably wouldn't sound quite the same. I wouldn't nessicarily say building it with a flat baffle was a bad idea, it would still be a great speaker. Just thought I'd mention that incase this is your first time DIYing a speaker.

Default Focal and Audax issues

Focal has pulled out of the DIY market, so the amount of Focal drivers our there is dropping fast as supplies wane.

I believe Audax is also saying adios to DIY.

As to design, Tony Gee is known on the internet as a respected DIY designer.

Given the issues with these drivers, I would go for a design that you can readily purchase drivers for in case you blow one, or a kid stickes a finger through it, etc.

Also, the Audax aerogel drivers are said by many to have certain sonic signature, which some don't like.

A great site for some floor standers is:
