Question Any European suppliers that can match partsexpress prices ?

Hi,

Am trying to find a supplier of these speakers :

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...=297-632&DID=7

Partsexpress postage seems high to me, so am looking nearer home.

I've tried the usual 2 UK suppliers, but it works out approx double the partsexpress price..

Any good European suppliers about ?

Cheers,

Rob

Rob,

You tried Speakerland?

Their site is in Dutch, but you can email in English, or even American if you really feel like it

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the link.

I've just had a look through the site, and it appears that the prices are similar to UK ones. The closest match for a vifa driver(for example) was the P17 one which costs 76.25 euros (~$101) against the partsexpress price of $43.89.

I can get that driver in the uk for £7 less btw.

(there are slight differences in the model no's though - I couldn't find an exact link.)

However the drivers would have to cost around 35 euros to be competitive and there aren't any there...

The postage costs from partsexpress are stating to look better..

Cheers,

Rob

If I were you I would email wilmslow audio and ask them if they stock that driver, although they dont have it listed on their web site that doesnt mean to say they dont sell it.

The prices are not as low as the states but are lower then twice the price.

The 6.5" HDS without phase plug is £40 at WA so the CSX should be cheaper still.

The 5.5" HDS without the phase plug is cheaper still at £34 and should give you a HUGE amount of bang for the buck.

Two 6.5" HDS = £80

Two CSX from PE = $86 = £45.11 I did this post before using the currency converter. The dollar or pound (which ever way you look at it) is VERY strong at the moment with 1.9 dollars to the pound. Usually its about 1.6, 1.7, which would work out at £50.

So bearing in mind we are looking at a comparison between a HDS and a CSX range, the difference to me is not all that bad. The states are always cheaper. Except for scan speak D2905/97 tweeters which wilmslow sell for lots less then the US of A.

Even with the strong currency atm two 97's at WA cost £160, two from PA cost £210. The 97 is a superb tweeter, if you are considering the SS95 tweet seriously think about getting the 97 instead, if you are in the UK.

Just looked at PE two 6.5" HDS = $124, which is more like £65. Only £15 cheaper then WA for two of them.

All of this is ignoring taxes.

I have found though that thinking about this just gives you a headache, america is always cheaper, and the sooner the UK accepts we cannot get the components as cheaply as the states all will be better.

DIYparadiso is more expensive then Wilmslow Audio or about the same depending on what drivers you are looking at.

I know wilmslow is not as cheap as the states but its the best we can do. WA became the distributor of SEAS loudspeakers about a year ago which made their drivers much cheaper. I was looking at spending £150 on a W15CY001 from WA, and the main supplier at the time WA were not he supplier. They changed and now I can get them for about £100.

If you want peerless XLS 10" drivers then go to www.bkelec.com

£90 ea.

C'mon 5th, you can't blame me for wanting the best value I can get can you ?

The thing is I'm on a budget and trying to get exactly what I want for the best price. I also want Tang Band drivers which would have to come from PE. I'm trying to find the peerless elsewhere for better than the PE price, as their shipping is high (I think)

I've spent over a grand with wilmslow in the past, so it's not like I don't buy from them, or am moaning about their prices. I'd just like these drivers now at the right price.

Cheers,

Rob
