I saw that deal and couldn't resist. I ended up getting 8 of each. I have yet to build them a box and get the crossover parts but i did test them out by switching them with my main(3 way) and surround speakers(2 way) that also use focal drivers. They sounded the same as my 7C4251 in my main speakers. They sounded a lot cleaner then my 7C4251 at the lower frequencies (lower then 70hrz) in the in the surround speakers. That was just to test them out and make sure they worked. The 2 way surround speakers used a 1st order butterworth crossover in a 1.5 cubic foot sealed enclosure with no dampening. My main used a 3 way 1st order butterworth crossover in a 4 cubic foot enclosure. I plain to use them in a two way 1 cubic foot vented enclosure with heavy dampening.

The only thing i would say is that the pictures of the tweeters do not look like the ones i received. I scanned the tweeter to show you what i ended up getting and for reference i put my TMCTIBJM tweeter on the left. The ones i got look like they might have some kind of coating. Maybe the Tioxid coating. The only other thing i would mention is that half the tweeters sound bright like my current focals and the other half sound good but not as bright. I am hoping they will sound better after being broken in a bit.

I will let you know how they sound when i make the 2nd order linkwitz-riley crossover with a 3khrz crossover point.

I hope this helps you out a bit.

Hi Tony,

Many thanks for the response. The project I was planning took a turn towards high efficiency drivers, but hopefully your reply will help someone here...

Cheers,

Rob
