I’m about to build two bass boxes, using Peerless XLS, to XO actively to PHL (which won't go below 200: a true mid)/ ribbon satellites.
If the Peerless were just subs, up to say 80 Hz, I would probably use 25 mm MDF, maybe with lead lining. But to give best sound up to 200 Hz - the high end of bass – should I bother with constrained layer damping? What would you recommend? Thanks |

I would suggest that if they don't take a forklift to set in place, they are not true subwoofers. Why stop at 25mm? I am thinking that 1" slabs of Osmium (heavily braced, of course - pun intended) would be the cost-no-object solution, although you might have to register your loudspeakers as a strategic reserve for your nation if you decide to go that route.

OK go full on thickness, but what about lining and/ or layers?
Thanks |
