I saw on a website back a while ago of the grand utopias getting built.....and they were pouring some sort of rubber....into the crossover.....has anyone else ever seen this? Would it hurt anything to completely seal the crossover like that??

1. Mechanically damps everything, preventing buzzing and interactions from the drivers
2. A good way to hide the secrets of your x-over It won't hurt, I would perhaps try Bondo. It will, of course, make it impossible to make any changes! |

I kind of figured it would be nice to seal everything up...but I was kind of worried about perhaps something heating up...neading a means of heat dissapation.

I did something like that to, but I took it to the extreme. My main loudspeakers have a separate mid-high unit wich is made of concrete. I could make a nice organic shape out of it to reduce reflections but I also put the XO into it to avoid vibration. Maybe I'll post a picture someday so you can see them.

Same thing with crossovers is doeing Wilson audio. They are potting low and high pass section of crossover in non magnetic metal enclosures , to even prevent any electromagnetic interferences between them and from outside.
