M6's/F5's and my amp

Hi everyone

I'm new so sorry if this is in the worng forum - wasnt really sure where to post.

At the moment I have a Pioneer VSX-C301 receiver powering some tiny cube speakers and I'm looking at getting some M6's or F5's from theloudspeakerkit.com The M6's are 90Watts 8 Ohms while the F5's are 100Watts 4 Ohms and are essentially the same but are floorstanding and have two drivers instead of the one used in the M6's (the drivers are the same). What I'm wondering is which speakers would be ideal for pairing with my amp - I'm kinda leaning towards the M6's due to their physical size but if the F5's will perform heaps better then I may get them. The main problem is the only specifications I have of my receiver are below: (copied straight from the manual)

MAX Power Output
Front............................75W/ch (1kHz, THD 10%, 6 Ohms)
Center..............................75W (1kHz, THD 10%, 6 Ohms)
Surround......................75W/ch (1kHz, THD 10%, 6 Ohms)

So would I even be able to F5's if their 4 Ohms ? I know my brother has a "8 Ohm" amp and they run 4 Ohm car speakers just fine. (I have run his 4 Ohm speakers on my amp but only for a few minutes at very low volumes just to see if the speakers actually worked) If my amp could do 4 Ohms would this mean F5's would be better or would M6's be fine ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Your amp has alot of distortion at 75W into 6 ohms, I'm not sure it would be the best idea to run a 4 ohm speaker on it at high levels.

You may know this already, but the price for those speaker kits is pretty high. This:

Parts Express Shielded BR-1 Kit

Uses the identical woofer in the F5 and M6 and an equal or better tweeter. Its essentially identical functionally to the M6. Not to mention the cabinets come preassembled and finished. From what I can tell you have to pay extra for finish on the LSK kits.

Check out their other kits here, not only do the boxes come preassembled with real wood veneer, but the higher end kits use some pretty nice drivers as well. From what I've heard the fit and finish on the veneered cabinets is top notch.

I know you'll probably have to deal with exchange rate and shipping, but I still think you'll get a better deal from PE.

If you have some woodworking skills you can build the cabinets yourself, save even more and get the same product.
