I got a pair of JX92S and a numbers of W3-871S.
As a result I am thinking of building a two ways (transmission or reflex to have better bass response)using the mentioned units, crossovered at someway around 300Hz. The JX92S has a fast and clean with aceptable bass response and the W3-871S has the smoothest response from above 150 Hz to 20KHz and the marriage of theses two would certainly bring forth with a fast, smooth, transparent and articulated sound with an extended sound stage performance. I am lacking in technical knowhow to have the crossover built and your comments and suggestions are welcome. |

Good plan! I use the Jordans actively crossed at 110hz to Peerless subs - biamped system. Its great. These are the XOs I used:
You'll need 2 for stereo subs. http://www.marchandelec.com/xm1.html http://www.marchandelec.com/ftp/xm1man.pdf Good Luck. |

Hello nonamekid
I read in other thread about you intersting jx92s pearless combo. Although I prefer some /m/TL without sub all - It is not possible to go this way for me because of space and WAF reason. Unfortunately i cannot go with two subs either. What i want is one closed sub - and two closed jx92s but in bigger enclosures than yours /about 8L/ to cross lower about 80hz I will phase correct sub to compensate position diferences I want to ask you - what do you think about? Any suggestion? And please what particular driver from pealess you use /or suggest me to just one sub/ i cannot find any that fits onto your specs /probably older model/ on http://www.tymphany.com /manufactor page/ Thank you very much and sorry for my english |

Hi TomTom - This looks like Peerless' rough equivalent now, albeit in a 10":
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=297-604 Quite a lot more expensive (ouch). I'd try something that goes low easily like that. I really lilke the 8" Peerless drivers I have so I imagine these are good speakers. I couldn't use a single sub because it had to be under a counter with the Jordans above - the single sub was too big to put on the counter and my computer monitor was in the center. The space under the counter gave me all sorts of low frequency resonance issues. My set up is for a PC based project studio and I listen in the near field. At that distance I like the definition of the dual subs better but if you are listening in an open space I bet one sub will sound fine. Hm.. I see Jordan is no longer selling woofers. Have you considered the new JXR6 over the JX92S? They look great to me on paper, maybe even better than the JX92S? NNK |

Hi noname kid
Thank you for answer On attached picture is "unfortunately" my future listen area. Its just photoshoped simulation I will seat on doublechair but turned out to be faced and centered to speakers. A was thinking about placing one sub on floor in center between speakers. And yes im consider R6 too but im afraid that i will have cross sub too high about 200hz a i will listen it - which i dont want at all cost. Im also afraid that r6 will not have enough "pressure" to my room. Im very begginer and i will follow somebody and there is not too many project and experiences with R6 around. I also considering 92s in some bookshelf vented design without any sub at all - but im afraid of "booming" in vented enclosure that close to wall. I there some suggestion on enclosure in "right on to wall" aplication? Thank you very much for all your comments. Tomas |

Hi Tomas - Well the 92s are excellent. If they sound too bright you can try the circuit that Jordan recommends to smooth out the highs - I use it and like it pretty well. Helps me not mix too dark. I first used the Jordans in one of his ported enclosures and didn't like it at all. That's why I went to the subs. If you cover the low freq. with the sub boosting the lows by using a tuned cabinet becomes overkill, I think. I also prefer the sound of closed cabinets, much tighter response and clearer sound. I used the smallest cubes I could build as per Ted's designs. The subs are also closed. The active crossover makes it all work together. These speakers are not terribly efficient so you will probably need some pretty good power to make it loud. This wasn't an issue for me listening up close so I use basic studio monitor amps. Here's what my setup looks like:

Thank you very much for all your comment.
I also have natural tendency to closed designs. Btw where you cross subs? And do you filter LF from jordans? Tomas |
